The Greater Niagara Circle Route

  • The Greater Niagara Circle Route is a well laid out system of over 140 km of paved, off-roads trails and roads connecting Port Colborne, Crystal Beach, Ridgeway,  Fort Erie, Niagara Falls,  Niagara-On-The-Lake, Thorold and Welland.

  • Trails consist of: The Friendship Trail, The Gordon Harry Conservation Trail, two Waterfront Trails (some on roads) and the Welland Canals Parkway Trails.

Port Colborne Trails

  • Situated near the shores of Lake Erie with its sandy beaches including an active canal which bisects our downtown and watch lakers glide by. Cycle west on Lakeshore Road / Waterfront Trail to reach the Gord Harry Conservation Trail leading into Wainfleet and connects to several conservation areas. The last trail leading out of Port Colborne heads north on the Welland Canals Parkway Trail. This paved trail is parallel to the Recreational Welland Canal where kayakers, canoes, rowers and dragon boats compete and perform.

Friendship Trail

  • Once a rail line, the old right of way has been converted to a multi-use recreational path connecting Port Colborne east through Crystal Beach to Fort Erie. The 24 km path is straight and easy with virtually no elevation change. Crystal Beach, and the immediately adjacent town of Ridgeway, are half-way along the route. Home to the internationally-recognized Bay Beach, the two towns boast a micro-brewery, as well as antique shops, galleries, and a number of highly-reviewed restaurants, all within easy walking distance.
